A rights perspective is fundamental to our image of children as individuals who are competent, curious and rich in potential. This webinar explores the evolution of child rights as they reached their most comprehensive expression in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), adopted November 20, 1989, a day that is now celebrated in Canada and around the world as National Child Day. It provides a road map to the CRC for educators by identifying the 3Ps of the CRC – Protection, Provision and Participation – and explores how its overarching principles, such as the best interests of the child, provide guidance in relationships with children. It closes with a focus on the CRC in the community today and invites reflection on ways of increasing awareness of child rights in the classroom and beyond
